Every Gridfinity Tool and Resource Worth Knowing About.

The Gridfinity ecosystem has grown way beyond one guy's YouTube video. Here is everything I use, everything I recommend, and where to find the community that keeps it all moving.

One of the best things about Gridfinity is that nobody owns it. Zack Freedman published the spec, and then the community ran with it. There are now dozens of tools, generators, model libraries, and community spaces, and they all work together because the 42mm grid is the same everywhere.

I built Binforge because I needed a visual editor that didn't require OpenSCAD. But Binforge is one tool in a big toolbox. Depending on what you need, a different tool might be the better fit.

Online generators

These run in the browser. No install needed.

  • Binforge: Bins, baseplates, trays, adapters, visual drawer layout planner, and AI tool cutouts. 80+ parameters including tilted inserts, custom shapes, off-grid extensions, and divider control. Exports STL and 3MF.
  • Gridfinity Generator by Marcus Svensson: Bins, baseplates, and custom cutouts from imported STL files. Clean interface, exports STL.
  • Gridfinity Layout Tool: Bins with wall cutouts, scoops, labels, and honeycomb patterns. Baseplates with magnet holes and auto-split. Layout planner with print list and filament estimates. Exports STL, STEP, and 3MF.
  • Perplexing Labs: Browser interface around the OpenSCAD gridfinity-rebuilt project. Bins and baseplates with options for magnets, screws, labels, and vase mode. You can also order printed parts directly.
  • Gridfinity Creator by Jeroen Bouwens: Bins and baseplates. Exports STEP files, useful if you want to edit the result in CAD.
  • Extrabold Tools: Gridfinity baseplate generator. Baseplates only, with real-time preview and printer-aware generation. Exports STL, OBJ, and 3MF.
  • tooltrace.ai: Traces tools from a photo on A4/Letter paper and generates custom holders. Photo-to-cutout only.

Ready-to-print models

  • Gridfinity Catalog: Unofficial wiki and design catalog. Community-contributed designs, browse by category.
  • Gridfinity Extended on MakerWorld: Popular parametric model. Customize parameters on the platform before downloading.
  • Clickfinity Baseplate on Printables: Uses flexible arms instead of magnets to grip bins. Saves the cost of hundreds of magnets on large setups. About half the filament of magnetic baseplates. Requires PETG.
  • Gridfinity Lite Ultra Boxes on Printables: Lightweight bins that print 54% faster with 44% less filament. Three base variants: ultra lightweight, magnet-compatible, and flat floor.
  • Ultralight Gridfinity Bases on MakerWorld: Minimal baseplates. A 6x6 grid prints in about 13 minutes using 9g of filament.
  • Skadis x Gridfinity Ultrastrong on MakerWorld: Shelf adapter for mounting Gridfinity bins on IKEA Skadis pegboards. Sturdy, optional magnets.

Keep building

The best Gridfinity setup is the one you actually use. Pick a tool, measure a drawer, print a bin. If that first bin fits, print the rest.
